Writing {sofia}

Hello! You walk towards the girl, sitting on her bed and frowning at the glowing screen in front of her. She pauses, looks up at you, and smiles. Oh. Hi. What are you doing here? You shrug. I just came by to see what you were doing.

She sighs. Well, I was trying to write, but… She gestures to the room around her and, confused, you raise your eyebrows. But what?

 She smiles, closes her eyes, and starts to explain.

sof here. i’ve taken up cohn’s writing style – i have to admit, it’s pretty cool.

anyways, today i wanted to talk to you guys about writing.

as most of you probably didn’t know, i’m writing a book. i started it around… hmm, probably around september last year, and now I’m very, very close to finishing – but it’s much harder than i thought it would be. for 2 reasons – one, it’s a flipping book and so of course they’re hard and long and you dedicate yourself completely to them – and two, i’m 13 and i live in the usa and a million things are lying around my house to distract me.

i’d like to say that i have a special writing place that i hide in to write for hours and i can tune the rest of the world out, but this is not the case. what the actual case is, is that i have a chair and a computer and a legal writing pad and music, and if i somehow manage to ignore my phone for long enough and can actually admit that no, i can’t work with music, then sometimes i can crank out a couple thousand words. No biggie – but add ’em together, and suddenly it is.

So my advice to all y’all is that you manage to turn off your phone and your music (come on, admit it, no one can actually work with it on) and find somewhere special enough that you feel at home and safe.

good luck,

-sof
