Sorry!

Hey lovelies, Emma here!
Okay so yes I am posting (sorry Sof!) but as you (don’t) know my computer is 99% dead (it’s about 6-7 years old) and it’s really hard to blog on my iPod. However, I did just order a new laptop yesterday (omg yayy) and I’m waiting for it to arrive. When it does, watch out world! YouTube videos, blog posts, etc. galore!
But until then (sadly), you’ll just have to wait.
Love you all oodles and oodles,
Emma

alone {sof}

|| it seems that cohn isn’t posting anymore, and so one must assume that I am alone. I don’t think any of you actually exist (comment to prove me wrong) so I’ll keep posting but it’s not so fun to post when no one’s reading. :-/ I’m hoping that some of you will comment, though, it’d be nice to have some friends.

on a happier note, I’m almost almost almost done with my book! 😀 very exciting, I know – I probably only have about ten more pages, and then this 1 and 1/2 year journey will end – but hey, the journey of editing/drafting has only just begun!

wish me luck! 🙂 are any of you writing books? comment please ||

Me {emma}

You’re scrolling aimlessly when you find it. That blog the girl was writing the other day. Cool, you think. I’ll check it out. I told her I would, didn’t I? This time, the post that pops up is also an introduction, but of a different kind. A sort-of, ‘all about me’ post. Well that’s good, you decide. I’d like to know more about her. You click the link and start reading.

Hi, Emma here! I decided that before I post anything actually relevant to this blog, I should let you guys get to know me first. So, uh, here’s a list of random things you just absolutely have to know about me. ^.^

  1. really like salad.
  2. I love writing and stuff. Well, that should be pretty obvious, I guess.
  3. I’m currently on the hunt for some cheap washi tape. (Unite, my internet-savvy deal-seeking craftspeople!)
  4. Sof’s my best friend in the entire world. 🙂
  5. We’re amazing.
  6. I’m writing a book! Yay me!
  7. So’s Sof. She’s actually almost done. I’m really proud of her. 😀
  8. I don’t like avocados.
  9. Or eggplant.
  10. But I REALLY like The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Also the movie. It’s all so fabulous.
  11. I’m kind of, I don’t know, deep? Don’t be frightened if I start babbling about the purpose of life or something…
  12. Literally? Panic! At the Disco. All day, e’ry day!
  13. I have two piercings in both ears.
  14. I kinda want a belly button piercing in a few years?
  15. I love doing people’s hair!
  16. I’m kind of a grammar Nazi… so don’t hesitate to point out mistakes of mine and I’ll gladly return the favor!
  17. I think that’s all, honestly.
  18. The rest of me? That’s for me to know and you to find out. *wiggles eyebrows but not in a really creepy way or anything like that*
  19. Au revoir!
  20. (oh yeah. I’m learning French, and loving it. So, get your Google Translate ready!)

You laugh as you finish reading the post, but you’re excited to continue. Why not, right?

Writing {sofia}

Hello! You walk towards the girl, sitting on her bed and frowning at the glowing screen in front of her. She pauses, looks up at you, and smiles. Oh. Hi. What are you doing here? You shrug. I just came by to see what you were doing.

She sighs. Well, I was trying to write, but… She gestures to the room around her and, confused, you raise your eyebrows. But what?

 She smiles, closes her eyes, and starts to explain.

-:-:-:-

sof here. i’ve taken up cohn’s writing style – i have to admit, it’s pretty cool.

anyways, today i wanted to talk to you guys about writing.

as most of you probably didn’t know, i’m writing a book. i started it around… hmm, probably around september last year, and now I’m very, very close to finishing – but it’s much harder than i thought it would be. for 2 reasons – one, it’s a flipping book and so of course they’re hard and long and you dedicate yourself completely to them – and two, i’m 13 and i live in the usa and a million things are lying around my house to distract me.

i’d like to say that i have a special writing place that i hide in to write for hours and i can tune the rest of the world out, but this is not the case. what the actual case is, is that i have a chair and a computer and a legal writing pad and music, and if i somehow manage to ignore my phone for long enough and can actually admit that no, i can’t work with music, then sometimes i can crank out a couple thousand words. No biggie – but add ’em together, and suddenly it is.

So my advice to all y’all is that you manage to turn off your phone and your music (come on, admit it, no one can actually work with it on) and find somewhere special enough that you feel at home and safe.

good luck,

-sof

Introduction {emma}

You enter. Emma hears the shuffle of your feet and turns around quickly, knocking her by-now cold coffee onto the floor. The mug shatters with a loud crash. She doesn’t seem to mind, and doesn’t look to check on the drink, but you’re rattled. When you recover from your shock, you glance up to see that she is staring at you with a weird intensity, as if she isn’t quite sure how you’re here. Or rather, how you exist. Finally, after an uncomfortable pause, Emma speaks.

Uh, hi! She shrugs her sweatshirt-covered shoulders half-heartedly. I’m Emma. And you are…? You stutter, trying to remember exactly who you are and why you came.

I’m… you begin, but she waves her hand and cuts you off.

I don’t actually care, you know. Just trying to be polite and everything. I’m a writer – she gestures to her messy bun stuck together with an assortment of pencils and the papers scattered across her desk – so I don’t usually have to deal with real people. I’m sorry, am I rude? Sorry. She starts to turn back to her writing, but you suddenly remember why you’ve come and call out.

Wait! What, what are you doing?

Me? She laughs. Why, I’m writing a blog! Wanna see? She blushes, but hands over a few papers shyly. You scan the sheets until you find what you came in here for. ‘Introduction’ it says. Perfect, you think, and you read on.

Introduction:

Hi! I’m Emma! My friend and I are writers, and are super excited to share this awesome blog with you! In this blog you’ll basically find short stories, poems, and song lyrics, as well as (almost) daily writing prompts for your usage (wouldn’t it be cool if you by some chance used one and magically become an awesomely-published author?) and writing tips! We can’t wait to get started, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do! 🙂

Hope to see you soon,

Emma

Cool, you say. This sounds awesome!

Really? Emma seems kind of embarrassed.

Yeah! I’ll definitely be reading on!

Yay, Emma says quietly, and gives a small but enthusiastic fist pump.

Well, I have to go now, you say, but I’ll be back! Emma smiles and you wave goodbye as you leave.

Bye!
